Shiny glass ornaments and twinkling lights of white or multi-colors blaze from most Christmas trees, but here is a welcome departure from the ordinary! Rich, sumptuous fabrics of gold lame’ and burgundy velvet highlight the subtle beauty of this skinny tree. No illumination is needed, and the glass ornaments are matte burgundy and muted gold with a few striped crystalline balls. The tree is very difficult to be-ribbon, as you cannot wrap the ribbon round and round or you will achieve the “mummy effect.” The ribbon must be a twisty affair, back and forth, up and down and some years the only hope is to strip it bare and start over again hoping the Christmas muse will inspire you to ribbon majesty! Most Thanksgivings we put up the tree for the dinner and enjoy the tree by candlelight!
