Enya has a very beautiful song “White is in the Winter Night.” In it she sings “Red is in the mistletoe, green is in the holly, silver in the stars above that shine for everybody …white is in the winter night that everyone remembers.” After the saturation of color that Christmas is–the red velvet, the green tree, the gold accents, and all the sparkle—white and green make a very calming tablescape. Almost like clearing the palate. Winter still has us in its grip, but the dear little children on the table are the promise that spring is just on the horizon.
