Requiem for a lifelong hobby!

In the last year, the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) has lost a lot of their fan base and car sponsorship has plummeted with the rampant inflation. Our local Houston track, Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas had been sold by the Gay Family and Angel Brothers and the new owner, a Belgium-based consortium will build an industrial park on the huge property. His entire life my husband had numerous race cars as his sole hobby but when he received prior warning the track would be closing within a year or two, he realized the time had come to sell the car and enclosed trailer before the track announced the closure. A world of enjoyable racing since purchasing the Corvette in 2012 was coming to an end.

That about covers a serious need for speed in all shapes and sizes! Like John Force once remarked, “I saw Elvis at 1,000 feet.”
